Hi,
In this blog, I am going to talk about how digital media companies found that there is a big lacking in helping other users to understand the online environment.
From reading this article ‘Digital Media Companies Found Lacking in Helping Users Understand the Online Environment’. According to Kirk (20202), a digital news report highlights that 62% of people surveyed had ongoing worries over miscommunication and misinformation online.
I found the above statement to be the most interesting statement for me because I feel that even though surveys state that 62% of people that were surveyed had ongoing worries that all stem from miscommunication and misinformation online, many people are very reliant on the online environment and believe that what they see is true. For example, many teenagers are very involved in social media and with the lives of influencers and they believe that how the influencers have portrayed themselves online is how everyone’s lives should be or how everyone should look. These teenagers fail to see that many of people's online posts are edited and they also fail to see that these influencers only allow the world to see what they want it to see and not every moment of every day.
Something from this article that I found very difficult to understand would be why Irish users are not well supported in terms of being informed of misinformation in circulation online. I couldn’t understand why Facebook and Google claimed to label fact-checked content when no fact-checked labels could be identified by code check researchers across any of the platforms, even though nearly 49 fact-checks being conducted were by the only IFCN approved fact-checked organization.
I also don’t understand why neither Twitter nor Microsoft has made any efforts to label content that might be misleading at all or why it remains unclear as to who was responsible for adding labels so that users can see that a claim has been reviewed.
Personally, from reading this text one thing that I will think differently about would be that many people worry about miscommunication and misinformation online but yet from personal experience many people try to follow the lead of influencers, etc. Even though the majority of people are aware that reality and social media are two very different things.

I felt this was an enjoyable and informative blog. I found no issue with the Grammar and punctuation and the sentence composition allowed the blog to flow smoothly making it easy to read. I liked that the writer of this blog was not a neutral party on the issue they were writing about and put in their own opinion. I also liked despite the blog being opinionated their was a big emphases on backing these opinions with facts by uses data and statistics. The only nit pick I could have with the blog is I feel the greeting was not necessary and you could of skipped the "hi" and gone directly into the introduction.

DeleteI enjoyed reading this blog I didn't come across any spelling mistakes or punctuation mistakes. I enjoyed the way each paragraph flown into the next one with mostly opinion based or factful information which I enjoyed to read. I also respected that you inserted all the names of the articles which I got your information from at the bottom. I liked when you had your opinion you quickly backed with the necessary facts to prove your point. I don't really have much to say to improve this blog post so well done
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of favourite parts in Megan’s Blog but if I had to choose I would pick the third paragraph because in this paragraph I feel Megan does best she gives statistical facts to back up her arguments “62% of people that were surveyed had ongoing worries that all stem from miscommunication and misinformation online, many people are very reliant on the online environment and believe that what they see is true” she also keeps the paragraph concise, which makes it easier to read the. The spelling, punctuation and clarity are perfect and I feel she gets her point of view across very good.I learned to give my stand on an argument. Previously I had just stated facts on both sides of an argument but after reading this I think it is good to make your blog opinion-based, as well as this, adds substance and structure to the blog I do not have much t critique besides the introduction i taught it was not necessary as this is a blog not a speech but besides that it was very good
ReplyDeleteThis blog was an amazing read. To start of first the use of information was really well spoken about, it showed how you had a great understanding of the research you were given. The statements given were great and your use of spelling and punctuation was really well done as I found no mistakes with either. I liked the way you had your paragraphs in a certain layout. The way you have the layout of your paragraphs really keep the reader engaged instead of it being a one whole, long paragraph. Speaking of keeping the reader engaged their was a very good flow to the blog from one topic to the next which was really well done. I like how you stated your opinion and what you learned during each paragraph. With the way you stated your opinion during each paragraph I like how you also included your opinion and stated how you feel in your conclusion. The conclusion was short and sweet and got straight to the point. Overall everything seems great and really well thought and layed out. I also appreciate how you had the proper referencing and citation in your blog. I would have liked to see an image representing your blog just for a visual idea and I think the introduction could be formatted slightly different. Other than those points everything else seems great and really well done. Keep up the great work!
