Technological Evolution

 Hi,

Today I am going to be discussing my thoughts on the ideas that are addressed in this week's videos about technological evolution.

Firstly I will talk about how the recent Covid-19 pandemic has affected everyone and has disputed every sector of our economies. The increased automation of work mixed with the global recession has led many workers to lose their jobs and this trend is expected to continue according to the 'What will the future of jobs be like?' video. There is a big ongoing shift in the division of labor between humans, machines, and algorithms this might displace 85 million jobs worldwide in the next 5 years. This is also a good thing because as it states in the video that 97 million new roles that are adapted to the distribution of the new tasks might emerge.

By 2025, organizations say they will train over 70% of their employees to ensure that they can smoothly transition into the 'Jobs of tomorrow' as stated in the video this includes:

1. DevOps Engineers.

2. Artificial Intelligence Specialists.

3. Digital Marketing managers.

4. Talent acquisition specialists.

5. Customer success specialists.

It will take a lot of effort and time from both employers and employees to allow people to be trained up properly so that the move into the new roles is a smooth as possible. This transition could take on average anywhere between 2 weeks and 5 months for workers to pick up new skills that allow them to move into these new roles.

I agree with the statement in the video that 'with purposeful leadership and collaboration, we can turn this global crisis into a unique opportunity to transition into a future of jobs that is inclusive, fair, and sustainable.' The reason I agree with this statement is that due to many working from home nowadays a lot of people have to be thought a bit more/ a lot about technology to be able to continue working during this pandemic to continue to receive income. This benefits everyone because people are beginning to learn new skills that can be used in many ways not just work and it also benefits the company and consumers due to the faster pace that work is being done and the amount of work being done, consumers will be happy and will become loyal due to the good standards of service which in return will benefit the company.
